Take a look at the new postcard stamps.
We will have these stamps as our only choice for postcards until the price of stamps goes up again. Which I guess won’t be too long, but still.
I find these stamps too graphic, as in pornographic. Overtly sexual. I was shocked when I saw them!
My Holiday postcards will be garnished (if you will) with a microscopic view of an STD.
An anal star fruit. "Star Fruit" is used as an endearing term for anus in gay porn.
Or any of these three tasty orifices. Of which I will spare you the comparison photos.
It is hard for JCO to comprehend how this imagery slipped under the radar of the USPS. Usually, I find the stamp options quite delightful. I have enjoyed Jim Henson's Muppets, artists' renditions of athletes and authors and collections by painters like Mary Cassatt. It is this previous careful curation that makes me think some smart guy over there is making a joke. Well, HAHA. JCO is not prude, but please understand, it’s postcard season!
Even people not educated in art history can identify the ability of fruit to express overtly sexual qualities. Food acts as a visual metaphor for sex in many art forms and even adopts its language, i.e., a sexual “appetite” or “hunger”. Food and sex are emotionally linked. Good food = good sex. And sex sells.
Indeed, we see fruit used sexually in advertisements and even in the Bible (Adam and Eve anyone).
USPS - thanks for ruining the carefully planned aesthetics of my Holiday postcards. How can I send one of those to my mom?
