Once you learn the truth about Asian women - Real Asian women, from ASIA - you won't get your feelings hurt. Just remember this truth and use it like a mantra. The truth is, they are Mean. They will use their cute accent and act oppressed to propel the lingering myth that they are compliant and meek. Reality- she's got No Problem saying awful things-- right to your face. For instance, "You have a rot of zits. Is there a probrem with your face?" from the mother of a close friend OR "before we go out we can wait for you to change.", but I wasn't going to change!?
This problem is more prevalent along the West Coast were first generation Asian women are known as FOB's or "Fobby" (as in Fresh Off the Boat), are a coveted commodity by a certain brand of middle aged white man, and imported by the thousands. However, you can run into this anywhere, and being "fresh off the boat" is not a prerequisite, this phenomenon exists after 30, 40 and 50 years in this country. So the next time that little women behind the counter at the Dry Cleaners asks You how far along you are with first baby?, (what?!?!?! I'm not pregnant! Do look pregnant?) don't be offended, she's just being Mean.
